I dare not close my eyes
drawn faces, mouths agape
hovering behind eyelids
who are they?
origins unknown
beckoning to go with them
into the grey
into the empty shadow
they conceal with gauntness
and distract from with pleas
Silent screams
haunting me night after night
looming closer
demanding attention
determined prevention
of sweet repose
