Fireworks
Turbulent clouds jostled;
Hair damp and tousled;
Air slightly nippy;
Nose wet and drippy.
The bonfire was lit.
Edging in a bit,
I saw him nearby;
Sparks began to fly.
I smiled. Without sound
'Glow tubes' swirled around.
The fire's heat caressed
my fast beating breast.
Roman candles were first,
then came a sunburst.
He smiled back at me -
electricity!
The Catherine Wheels spun.
We became as one.
Nothing could disperse
our snug universe.
Explosions of light
in the cloud filled night
echoed those within
from adrenalin.
So, as the fire died
outside, and inside,
I wandered away
so I could replay
the fantasy...
eternally.

I always wonder if when we do experience moments like that - if it is the heat of the moment that is so intense - it actually kills the life.
